Four years ago SPI was the first organization in Portugal to receive certification of its R&D and Innovation Management System according to the standard NP 4457:2007. Now, it has already supported more than 20 other companies through the implementation and certification of their systems.

In addition to work already completed in six companies, SPI is currently working with and beginning work with a further 17 projects to support implementation of systems and certification according to NP4457:2007. The companies come from sectors such as software development, textiles, ICT, hygiene, and pharmaceutical distribution.

The standard NP 4457:2007 define the requirements for the efficient management of R&D and Innovation and was created using the concept of innovation as a means to increase profits. The implementation of this system will allow the company to improve the way it transforms knowledge into economic and social benefits, with clear links to ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004.
