Clipping: Innovation is where the profit lies (Jornal de Negócios)

On 24th March 2011, the newspaper Jornal de Negócios published a report about Innovation in companies and its importance for the national economy. This article included contributions from various specialists including Sara Medina, member the board of SPI.

In the article the results of the European Innovation Scoreboard for 2010 were highlighted, in which Portugal is placed in 15th position (in 27), and Eurobarometer, in which 61% of companies cited innovation as a priority for overcoming the effects of the economic crisis. Together with Sara Medina, Daniel Bessa and Isabel Caetano (COTEC Portugal), Jorge Martins (NET - Business Innovation Center Porto) and Nuno Nazaré (Alma Consulting) were consulted about the conditions necessary for promoting innovation, important considerations for organization in this area and strategic directions that Portuguese companies can take.

Sara Medina provided her opinion regarding the direction of innovation activities in companies and the way in which these can be implemented and fostered by organizations, mentioning that SPI’s clients, in seeing innovation as a means to increase profit, have managed to implement new highly competitive business models.
