Southeast Asia - SPI Explores Opportunities for Science, Technology and Innovation Cooperation
11 June 2013
SPI recently participated in a 3-week mission in Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand to explore potential cooperation opportunities with ASEAN countries, partially thanks to SPI´s participation in a Fact Finding Mission (FFM) organized under the framework of the European Commission project: SEA-EU-NET 2 – EU ASEAN S&T Cooperation to Jointly Tackle Societal Challenges.
SPI, together with experts from Norway and Austria, visited different types of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) stakeholders including international NGOs, national governmental organizations (e.g. Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and Department of Science and Technology), Asian Development Bank (ADB), universities and research institutions, technology parks, and other STI facilitators, intermediaries as well as service providers.
The mission expanded SPI´s experience in the region of Southeast Asia as well as strengthened SPI´s capacity in developing STI and other business projects.
