The ASEAN-EU Science, Technology and Innovation Days 2014 (STI Days) took place in Bangkok, Thailand, between 21st and 23rd January 2014. This was an annual high-level event organized under the framework of the FP7 project “SEA-EU-NET2: EU-ASEAN S&T Cooperation to Jointly Tackle the Societal Challenges” project, of which SPI is a partner.

The STI Days aimed to identify and display good practices and outcomes of the ASEAN-EU STI research cooperation, as well as to discover and foster ideas and opportunities for new collaboration. Nearly 300 participants from different countries participated in the STI Days, which succeeded in encouraging cooperation activities in the field of STI. A series of workshops and exhibitions took place, which covered topics such as “Nanomaterials for photocatalytic depollution”, “Innovation in ASEAN”, “Food security & safety”, “Intellectual Property Rights” etc. SPI was in charge of showcase innovation with more than 30 exhibitors and parts of innovation sessions including running an IPR session.

SEA-EU-NET2 funded by the European Union’s 7th Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, aims at deepening S&T cooperation between Europe and Southeast Asia in a strategic manner by identifying opportunities for S&T cooperation, creating a policy dialogue between the countries of Europe and Southeast Asia on S&T cooperation, and increasing the participation of researchers from Southeast Asia in the EC’s Seventh Framework programme (FP7).
