SPI and ISCTE-IUL organized the launch of the “GEM Portugal 2013: A Decade of Entrepreneurship” study, at ISCTE-IUL’s premises in Lisbon on 3rd December. The Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) study is the largest ongoing study of entrepreneurial dynamics in the world. It evaluates primary information on entrepreneurship, providing harmonized measures about the attitudes, activities and characteristics of individuals in more than 70 countries.
SPI and ISCTE-IUL provide the GEM Portugal study, which has been ongoing since 2001.
The event presented the results of GEM Portugal for 2013, and promoted discussions among participants on the main conclusions. The session was started by the Rector of ISCTE-IUL, Prof. Luís Antero Reto. Eng. Nuno Gonçalves, from SPI, then presented the overall results of GEM Portugal 2013, followed by an in-depth analysis of Portuguese entrepreneurship in the context of Europe from Prof. António Caetano, Vice-Rector of ISCTE-IUL.
A discussion session was then held on the main trends of entrepreneurship in Portugal, animated by Eng. Mira Amaral, Member of the Board of SPI.
The session was ended by Dr. Leonardo Mathias, Secretary of State Assistant to the Minister and of Economy, who focused on the various support programmes for entrepreneurial activities in Portugal.
