BIC Africa carried out a scoping mission in Angola and participated in the Angola Startup Summit 2024
SPI, in collaboration with BIC Africa, participated in a scoping mission in Angola carried out by BIC Africa and participated in the Angola Startup Summit. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) Angola, represented by Manuel Caia Paulo and Chabir Hassam, hosted the BIC Africa team and facilitated one-on-one meetings with key ecosystem players. These meetings provided the BIC Africa team with a deep understanding of the services offered by local actors and allowed them to share the objectives and support services of BIC Africa.
The BIC Africa scoping mission aimed to identify potential key players and areas for collaboration within the Angola chapter of the BIC Africa project, ultimately contributing to the strengthening of the Angolan startup ecosystem.
Sérgio Ferreira Alves represented SPI and accompanied the BIC Africa team to led a workshop with local incubators to prepare for the BIC Africa Boot Camp, scheduled for September 2024 in Luanda. The workshop aimed to identify key topics for the Boot Camp, including strategies for ensuring the long-term sustainability of incubators.
Additionally, the BIC Africa team and IFC met with the Angola National Institute of Support for Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (INAPEM) to discuss EBN’s core activities and explore long-term collaboration to strengthen and support the local ecosystem. In partnership with IFC and INAPEM, BIC Africa is focused on developing the innovation ecosystem in Angola, with a particular emphasis on supporting business incubators.
