SPI participated in the Smart City Expo World Congress 2025, held from 4–6 November at Fira Barcelona Gran Via, one of the world’s leading events for urban innovation and technology.

SPI participated and co-organised the FOSTER Science-Policy Expert Panel Workshop and Project Meeting in Brussels on November 10-11, 2025.

On 4–5 November, SPI joined E-SPFdigit partners in Wageningen, Netherlands, for the first project Plenary Meeting, a key milestone for the project’s efforts to develop on-site digital services for soil, plants, and food contaminants.

SPI participated in Synergy Days 2025, held on 21–22 October in Rotterdam, representing the E-SPFDigit project, an initiative advancing AI-driven solutions for sustainable agriculture and plant health.

From 22 to 24 October 2025, SPI, represented by Sara Medina, Ana Fernandes, and Tiara Amadea, took part in a series of events held in Brussels, Belgium, for the Africa–Europe Innovation Platform (AEIP) project, funded by Horizon Europe.

In parallel with the Econutri Consortium Meeting in Braga, Portugal, SPI organized a mission for the participating stakeholders to further explore Europe’s leading initiatives in sustainable agriculture and nutrient management.

Recognised as the leading food and beverage trade show in Southeast Europe, the expo attracts thousands of exhibitors and visitors from around the world.

From March 3rd to 5th, Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação (SPI) participated in the European Ocean Days in Brussels, under the BlueMissionAA and AtlantECO projects. This is a key event to shape European ocean policies and foster collaboration under the Mission Ocean banner.

 The event marked participation of eighty-two participants from different European cities, including consortium members, stakeholders and IAB members, project fellows and other researchers in the Food Consumer Science (FCS) field.

Madrid, January 23, 2025 – SPI, as part of the South-East Asia Intellectual Property SME Helpdesk, proudly participated in the FITUR 2025 – International Tourism Fair held in Madrid.

From December 10-12, 2024, Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação (SPI) participated in the MONTEVITIS project meeting, workshop, and thematic seminar held across Portugal at UTAD in Vila Real, Quinta da Pacheca in Lamego, and Quinta do Bonfim in Pinhão. Representing SPI at all sessions were Ricardo Oliveira and Valeriia Hudz.

SPI represented by Telmo Fernandes, Septian Setiawan and Valeriia Hudz attended the SPADE project consortium at the Fraunhofer IPA in Berlin on December 18-19, 2024, to reflect on its achievements and plans for the next stages.

From November 26th to 28th, 2024, SPI participated in the FUTURAM Consortium Meeting, which was excellently hosted by VITO in Brussels. SPI leads WP7 – Communication, Dissemination, and Exploitation, with a strong emphasis on advancing exploitation activities to ensure the project’s outcomes are translated into meaningful, real-world impacts.

On November 27, 2024, the Environmental Advocacy and Justice Workshop brought together 33 participants—including teens, young adults, and experts—focused on crafting impactful social media campaigns for environmental and social justice.

On November 14th, 2024, SPI actively participated in the European Mission Soil Week’s Cluster Event, at the European Committee of the Regions, for the E-SPFdigit project (Emergent soil, plant, and food onsite digital services on chemical and biological contaminants).

The BlueMissionAA consortium held its 3rd Annual Meeting on October 29-30, 2024, at the University of Lisbon’s TTC Auditorium, with both in-person and online attendance.

As a representative of the South-East Asia IP SME Helpdesk, SPI attended the Innovating Health Together (IHT) Conference: “Building Bridges in Europe and Beyond,” organized by Health Cluster Portugal.

SPI, representing the South-East Asia IP SME Helpdesk (LinkedIn), recently participated in the VDS+ tech event (LinkedIn) held at the astonishing Ciudad de las Artes y Ciencias from October 23-24. SPI consultant Ivan Sá Vieira engaged with a diverse range of start-ups, primarily from Valencia and surrounding regions, while also connecting with interesting SMEs from the Netherlands, Greece, and Portugal.

Sara Medina and Susana Seabra, in representation of SPI, travelled to Seoul to take part in the INPACE International Symposium on Digital Technologies and Policies: Supporting the Indo-Pacific-European Digital Partnerships, held in Daeyang AI Center, Sejong University, from the 21th to the 22th of October.

On February 10th 2024, SPI organised and participated in the Academic Training of COMFOCUS in Bologna, Italy. The event was hosted by the University of Bologna, Department of Agri-food Sciences and Technologies.

SPI was pleased to take part in the Kick-off meeting of E-SPFDigit Project, held from 8th to 9th October. The project aims to develop and scale AI-driven digital tools for real-time, onsite monitoring of chemical contaminants in viticulture and horticulture.

On October 2nd and 3rd, SPI took part in the SEHRENE consortium meeting held in Granada, Spain. The meeting brought together all project partners to review the progress of key work packages and plan the next steps in the development of the Electro-Thermal Energy Storage (ETES) system.

From June 25th to 28th, SPI participated in the CommuniCity Project General Assembly and Workshop Training held in Amsterdam. Ricardo Oliveira and Raquel Silva represented SPI as the Communication and Dissemination Task Leaders as part of Work Package 6.
The first day featured the project’s General Assembly, where each Work Package discussed the next steps in preparation for the project’s final and third open call.
On the second day, an internal workshop was held at the Culture Club, during which the Consortium introduced the new cities and challenges for the Third Open Call.

The first day of the meeting started with welcome speeches by Miguel Angel Garcia Muro, Deputy of Digital Transformation of Zaragoza City (Area of Economy, Digital Transformation, and Transparency), and David Rodríguez Ochoa, Head of the Funding and Transfer Unit at CIRCE. It was followed by the Project Steering Committee (PSC) Meeting where each of the Work Packages and its development status was presented.

Between the 3rd and 7th of June 2024, the SPI team, under the MSCAdvocacy project funded under the Horizon Europe Programme of the European Commission, developed a mission to Argentina (Buenos Aires and Cordoba).

On June 11-13, 2024, Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação – SPI, joined the MONTEVITIS 3rd Workshop on “Regionality in adaptation measures in European viticulture”. The event took place in Luxembourg at the facilities of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST).
