On the 5th-6th of October SPI participated in the kick-off meeting of a new Horizon Europe project – SPADE

SPADE, the multi-purpose physical-cyber agri-forest drones ecosystem for governance and environmental observation project, is funded by Horizon Europe (EU), its main objective is to develop an intelligent ecosystem to address the multiple purposes concept in the light of deploying unmanned aerial vehicles to promote sustainable digital services for the benefit of a large scope of end users in sectors of crop production, forestry, and livestock. The project involves the creation of 3 pilot prototypes in each domain, deployment of the test cases and open calls to engage other complementary projects.

The kick-off meeting took place in Thessaloniki, Greece. Two days worth of activities were conducted at the premises of the Consortium Leader –  CERTH (Center for Research & Technology Hellas). The meeting gathered more than 25 professionals from 21 partner organisations of the SPADE project. SPI, as a Work Package 5 leader was represented by Raquel Almeida and Mariia Levanchuk.

The activities ranged from presentations, and discussions to productive workshops in order to maximise the project’s potential and make all the partners even more interconnected and productive in the future.

The project has the potential to solve many issues in the agro and forestry sectors and therefore create many positive opportunities and influence the overall digitalization of Agriculture, as well as benefit the implementation of many European policies, specifically the European Green Deal.

Many thanks to all the involved parties for promoting such a relevant event.
