SPI attended the kick off meeting of Horizon Europe - Regions for Climate (R4C), in Helsinki (Finland)
The Regions for Climate (R4C) project funded by the #HorizonEurope aims to collaboratively develop and demonstrate a socially-just transition to climate resilience.
Led by VTT – Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd., the consortium is made up of 44 partners from 13 European countries representing key stakeholders within the value chain of climate resilience transitions and smart, sustainable development (public authorities, research institutions, universities, large industries, small and medium enterprises, and private non-profit).
Based on cross-sectoral roadmaps developed together with regional stakeholders, the project will create and implement innovations combining sociocultural, technological, digital, business, governance and environmental solutions to reduce the vulnerability of European regions to the impacts of climate change. R4C will provide a suite of user-centred tools and frameworks to support socially just regional climate.
Learnings from regional demonstrations of co-created cross-sectoral solutions within 12 European regions (including the Azores) will provide input for long-term politically adopted and secured resilience strategies. The geographical distribution of partner regions allows the twinning of regions with similar challenges, despite the diversity of contexts, strengthening the relevance of the results and enhancing R4C impact.
SPI is the partner responsible for Innovation Management and Exploitation throughout the project.
SPI attended the first Consortium meeting in Helsinki (Finland), between the 6th and 8th of February 2023.
