In a bid to champion European Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) intellectual property rights, Ricardo Oliveira from SPI made a notable presence at the prestigious Mobile World Congress (MWC) held in Barcelona, Spain from February 26th to 27th, 2024.
Representing the Intellectual Property Southeast Asia (IP SEA) Helpdesk under the European Commission, Oliveira engaged with numerous exhibitors to raise awareness about the significance of IP protection for European SMEs, focusing on the Southeast Asian market.
MWC Barcelona, recognized as the pinnacle of the mobile technology sphere, attracted a diverse array of global stakeholders ranging from mobile operators to technology providers and enthusiasts. Amidst this dynamic gathering, where decision-makers from international governments and tech giants convened, SPI capitalized on the opportunity to interface with European SMEs, particularly startups delving into cutting-edge domains like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Extended Reality (XR).
By highlighting the pivotal role of IP in facilitating investments and business expansion in Southeast Asia, SPI not only leveraged the event to promote the European Commission service but also fostered stronger ties within the mobile and tech sectors.
