BLUEMISSION WORKSHOP (2)

SPI Drives Creative Engagement at Environmental Advocacy and Justice Workshop

On November 27, 2024, the Environmental Advocacy and Justice Workshop brought together 33 participants—including teens, young adults, and experts—focused on crafting impactful social media campaigns for environmental and social justice. Co-organized by the EU-funded PREP4BLUE project and BlueMissionAA project represented by SPI and UCC teams, the event was part of the Blue Mission Banos Arena 3 initiative.

SPI, represented by Septian Setiawan and Catia Duarte played a pivotal role in the workshop, contributing to its planning and delivery. SPI team led an engaging session on the importance of visual appeal in social media campaigns. We highlighted key principles in designing campaign such as clear messaging, eye-catching visuals, and brand consistency. This practical guidance equipped participants with the skills to create compelling advocacy campaign on social media that outreach their target audiences.

During the hands-on workgroup session, SPI team and UCC team supported by Catriona Reid and David Whyte facilitated discussions where participants designed innovative social media campaigns addressing Mission Ocean challenges. These ranged from tackling Amsterdam’s canal pollution to advocating for marine biodiversity. By focusing on target audiences, messaging, and strategies, the participants developed creative, actionable campaigns, which they presented to the wider group on the stage.

SPI’s contributions underscored the importance of collaboration and creativity in environmental advocacy. Our efforts empowered attendees with practical tools and inspired them to use social media effectively to drive meaningful change for a sustainable future.
