SPI helped the implementation of the “EU-Caribbean workshop on marine scientific cooperation”
SPI, as part of the Global Service Facility, helped the implementation of the “EU-Caribbean workshop on marine scientific cooperation”, which was held by the University of the West Indies (UWI) one of the most important educational and research entities in the Caribbean region, in their campus, in Bridgetown, Barbados on 14-15 November. The hybrid workshop gathered multiple stakeholders from the EU and Caribbean – including the European Commission, regional organisations, research funding and performing organisations, private foundations, educational and research actors, policymakers, national and international donors, NGOs, as well as social entrepreneurs and grassroot organisations. They discussed the potentialities, needs and gaps in marine research and cooperation for the Caribbean region and small Island Developing States (SIDS) in particular.
