SPI participate in SEHRENE Consortium Meeting held in Denizli, Turkey, between 27 and 28 January 2026
The SEHRENE project consortium gathered for a pivotal partner meeting hosted by Zorlu Enerji at the Zorlu Centre in Denizli, bringing together representatives from all 11 partner organisations working on the EU-funded Horizon Europe project SEHRENE Store Electricity and Heat foR climatE Neutral Europe.
Focused on accelerating development of SEHRENE’s innovative Electro-Thermal Energy Storage (ETES) system — designed to store both renewable electricity and heat with high efficiency and sustainability — the meeting encompassed strategic project discussions, technical sessions, and a highlight tour of local geothermal energy facilities. SPI is responsible for the communication, dissemination, and exploitation of the project results.
During the event, partners reviewed progress towards key milestones, shared updates from their respective work packages, and coordinated activities across multiple technical domains, including system modelling, prototype development, and digital tool integration. SEHRENE’s cross-disciplinary team — comprising research institutions, industrial manufacturers, energy producers, and SME technology developers — reaffirmed their commitment to delivering scalable solutions that support Europe’s transition to net-zero energy systems.
The Denizli meeting underscores SEHRENE’s collaborative spirit across borders and sectors, reflecting a shared goal of enabling resilient, efficient, and decarbonised energy systems in Europe and beyond. The project, running until mid-2027 with a total budget of over €3.5 million, continues to explore advanced ETES performance, digital twin implementation, and techno-economic optimisation for diverse real-world use cases.
