SPI participated in the Microbes-4-Climate Kick-off meeting in Braga on the 20th and 21st of February.
Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação (SPI) participated in the kick-off meeting of a new Horizon Europe Project named Microbes-4-Climate in Braga, held between the 20th and 21st of February at the MIRRI-ERIC Headquarters in Braga. SPI was represented and gave its contribution through consultants Francisco Rocha and Maria Antónia Silva.
MICROBES-4-CLIMATE aims to address the challenges posed by global changes to terrestrial biodiversity and ecosystems, particularly in agricultural and forestry systems. Climate change is a significant driver of these challenges, yet the role of microbes in mitigating its effects is often overlooked. The project seeks to enhance understanding of how climate change impacts microbial communities and their interactions with plants and soil, ultimately affecting ecosystem functioning and plant productivity. By providing access to advanced research infrastructures and training, the project aims to foster curiosity-driven research and pave the way for applied solutions to enhance climate resilience in agriculture through harnessing plant-microbiome interactions.
DSPI got to meet its consortium partners, namely: MIRRI-ERIC, University of Valencia, University
of Gent, NKUA, UNITO, CNR, INRAE, AnaEE EERIC, FZJ, ALSIA, HMGU, Leibniz IPK, University of Nothingham, Wageningen University, University
of Utrecht, FEM, CREA, LifeWatch ERIC, CABI, Alliance, AIT, University of Minho. SPI took the opportunity to provide a detailed action plan for the
Work Package which leads (WP8), and discuss procedures to be put in place with
the partners.
SPI expresses deep gratitude towards its new consortium partners, and hopes to build on a wonderful working relationship kickstarted by the meeting.
