SPI - Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação participated in the kick-off meeting of the BlueMissionAA project in Cork, Ireland.

On the 23rd and 24th of November, SPI – Sociedade Portuguesa de Inovação participated in the kick-off meeting of the new Horizon Europe project, BlueMissionAA project – Building a coordination hub to support the Mission Implementation in the Atlantic and Arctic Basin. The kick-off meeting took place at MaREI facilities in Ringaskiddy, Cork, Ireland.

BlueMissionAA project is a Coordination and Support Action and will be the coordination hub that will support the implementation of the EU Mission, Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030 in the Atlantic and Arctic basins. It will focus on the restoration of marine and coastal ecosystems and increased climate resilience.

The project is coordinated by AIR Centre – Atlantic International Research Centre and the consortium is composed of 15 partners from 8 EU and EEA countries (Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Denmark, Ireland, and Norway) who have worked extensively in the Atlantic and Arctic basins over the years. They combine the benefits of comprehensive geographical coverage with an evenly balanced mix of unique capabilities, knowledge, and access to relevant stakeholder networks needed to pursue the objectives of the project.

SPI is the leading partner for the Engagement of citizens and Cross-fertilisation with other Lighthouse CSAs and was represented by Andréia Santos and Caique Neves, who provided an insightful discussion about the activities that are going to be carried out in order to achieve this objective.
