SPI supports 12 European regions in building their Regional Innovation Roadmaps for climate resilience

From the 23rd to the 25th of April 2024, SPI attended the first Consortium Meeting of the Horizon Europe Regions4Climate (R4C) project.

SPI, as leader of WP6 (“Innovation Management & Exploitation”) and Task 6.1, organised a workshop on Innovation Management to support the 12 European regions in developing their Regional Innovation Roadmap. The workshop aimed to define innovation milestones and assumptions of action that will help transformation towards climate resilience. The participants included public authorities, as well as public and private partners who are part of the project.

The Consortium meeting also provided several opportunities for discussion and cooperative work in different areas such as just transition, governance and policy instruments, models and monitoring and evaluation processes and provided updates on the demonstrations carried out by the regions, which reinforce the partners’ commitment to achieving the project’s goals and driving Europe’s climate agenda forward. The R4C project aims to support socially just regional climate resilience transitions through a set of user-centred tools and frameworks that link new knowledge and a detailed understanding of regional ecosystems with innovative technologies and processes.

The meeting took place in Sitia (Greece), one of the 12 regions that have accepted the challenge of becoming more resilient, leading the “Systemic Adaptation” Challenge Suite.
